The BCS final results came out yesterday. After the smoke cleared, OU edged UT. The longhorns launched an all out political campaign to try and convince the country they deserved to be ranked ahead of OU (a team that they beat in October)*. The computers and coaches poll disagreed and now OU is given the nod to represent the Big 12 South against Missouri in the Championship game. Should OU win, the Sooners will likely play the winner of the Bama/Florida SEC Championship game.
*It should be noted that UT beat OU by 10 on a neutral field in Dallas, TX. It should be further noted that OU demolished Texas Tech, the team that UT lost to, on a last second play. OU further beat a top 15 team in an away game when they went to Stillwater and beat the Cowboys by 20 (UT only beating OSU by 4 at home). Neither UT nor Tech had the nonconference wins or conference road victories that OU can tout. It is still beyond debate that the Big 12 will revisit the way they handle three way ties. An argument can be made for Texas and an argument can be made for Oklahoma (an argument cannot be made for Tech...they struggled against Baylor). All that can be done is to move on and see if the defenses in the SEC are truly as good as touted.

In the three way tie, if you state an "argument cannot be made for Tech...they struggled against Baylor" then that leaves us with two teams. UT beat OU. Case closed.
