ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney reported that in order to get the deal completed, the Yankees added a seventh year to their original six-year, $140 million offer, bringing the total package to seven years and $160 million -- by far the biggest contract for any pitcher in history.
$160 million...not terrible for a guy that doesn't play every game.
The only title Sabathia looks as though he could bring the Yankees is the Mustard Belt. *because he is kinda fat.
UPDATE: Sabathia rumored to have cancelled Christmas plans with wife Amber in favor of Madonna.

Well, I don't know about what they gave up... but I know that the Yanks are definitely winners in this scenario. Sabathia, on the otherhand neither gains, nor loses, value in this signing.
they certainly do have their first ace in a long while, but who else is really going to deliver? either way, it is a win-win for the yanks because it isn't like the payroll is going to prevent them from getting any other players, should the opportunity arise.
