Mustachio Monday

Thank you for being "you."

Stupid Linguist Tricks

Linguists. You know them as the life of the party, always tricking you with stupefying feats of grammatical genius.

Here's one I learned over the weekend:

"Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo."

My friends, that is a complete (and grammatically correct) sentence. Now go wow the cocktail circuit and let us know how you made out.

Fair Fare

It's that time of year again. There's a nip in the air and FFA students everywhere are being treated to "Big City" life. Of course, this means the state fair is in town. I have long argued that the fair lends itself to the best people-watching of the year. But don't take my word for it. Here's a couple photos (click to enlarge):

In this photo, a local (townie?) eats an indian taco (585 calories) while comfortably seated in a mobility chair. This is smart. It prevents her from wasting all those calories by walking around. This way she can use them for more important things, like becoming a larger person.

In this next photo, we have two men soaking in the sweet melodies of NightRanger:

Muscle-car t-shits emblazoned with bikini-clad women, (check) facial hair, (check), gold chains, (check), cigarettes, (check), shirt tucked in sans belt, (check), jeans with tapered leg, (check), and accented with tennis shoes (check).

Their wives must be at home.

Hooray...beer?

Here is hoping your weekend plans are as exciting as ours.

Weekend Warning-creepy van 10/3

We here at Juxtaposably have taken it upon ourselves to reach out to the people and to fulfill some community service (non-court ordered, this time). We bring you the Weekend Warning- creepy van segment. It really doesn’t matter your age. Steer clear of these. Some of them may look pretty cool (mostly they don’t), but none of these vans are to be trusted. There is a dark force and bad juju that surrounds these machines. Click the photos to enlarge (the van photos).

Girelephant.

I need to see more of these. I am loving the people walking in the background as he tries to turn the steering wheel. Give me you under/over on how many takes it took the redskin quartet to get this magical shot. I am guessing as many as the Joe Pa, big ten recruiting video.

Meet the Midweek Mascot

The banana slug of UC Santa Cruz. How menacing can it get?
Well, the chancellor at one point int he 80's decided on the more fierce sea lion. The students would have none of it and it was decided that they would readopt the banana slug.
The Banana Slug even figured in a court case involving campus mascots. Judge Terence Evans, writing the opinion for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, stated the following: "We give the best college nickname nod to the University of California, Santa Cruz. Imagine the fear in the hearts of opponents who travel there to face the imaginatively named 'Banana Slugs'?" (Crue et al. v. Aiken, June 1, 2004)
In May 2004, Reader's Digest named the Banana Slug the best college mascot. And that, folks, is when you know you've hit the big time.

Rock the Vote people. Did we mention her vote counts as much as yours.

This silver-tongued temptress must be the leader and sound of reason in her community. I do enjoy the gent trying to keep you from seeing his face. Strong work sir. What is that on the side of the atv? Anyone? I guess I am not going to get any sleep tonight.

He lived. I know...right?
