Truth in Advertising

Everyone loves a good advertisement. And when the ad is from the middle of last century, the fun bucket just overflows with glee. Here's an interesting one:

"Good Time" Girl sounds like a future word-revival entry. And what exactly is the difference between a "Good Time" Girl and a Pick-Up? And why is "Good Time" in quotes? Did the girls talk a lot or is that just a Tom Brokawism describing sluts of the Greatest Generation? My money's on the latter (how could they ever get a word in with all the "Good Times" going on?).

But just to prove things never change, the ad bids adieu by challenging your devotion to country: "You can't beat the Axis if you get [the] VD." Because if you do get the VD, you can't fight, and we'll surrender, start a master race and be forced to learn German . . . all because "she looked clean."
